PEOPLE

People are at the core of our business, whether they are part of our global team or within our supply chain which spans over 100 factory sites. We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive and respectful workplace and to upholding the highest social and ethical standards. This includes promoting equity and inclusion, supporting wellbeing, preventing modern slavery and promoting ethical trade. We believe in continuous improvement and supporting our suppliers to build a culture where everyone is hired responsibly, treated fairly, and can work free from exploitation.

RESPONSIBLE SOURCING

Designworks Collective supports all its suppliers to reach our minimum responsible sourcing standards for our factory sites. We align our ethical and social compliance factory audits with the Ethical Trade Initiative’s Base Code, only using approved third parties to audit either BSCI, SMETA, SA8000, ICTI or WRAP. This means that we only work with traders who provide full traceability of our products, and that all audits must be full and valid, conducted within a minimum two-week window and no older than one year old.

We encourage our suppliers to adopt ISO14001 Environmental Management Systems, follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) such as U.S. FDA and ISO22716:2007. Where any materials in our products have sustainable sourcing claims, we ensure our factories can provide full chain of custody evidence and accreditation certificates for the scope of claims. For more information go to our Product page.

HUMAN RIGHTS

Respecting human rights not only within our own business, but across our entire supply chain is paramount. At Designworks Collective, we are committed to ensuring that the people behind our products are treated fairly, ethically, and safely. This means taking a proactive, structured approach to human rights due diligence, in line with internationally recognised standards and the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

We have a formal Modern Slavery Statement, which outlines the steps we take to assess and address the risk of forced labour, child labour, and other forms of exploitation. You can read it in full here. As part of this commitment, we continue to strengthen our internal procedures by drawing on guidance from the Ethical Trade Initiative (ETI) and related frameworks to meet the expectations of both our customers and global regulations. We also recognise the importance of understanding modern slavery and the associated risks. That’s why we are working to ensure that all employees who visit suppliers receive targeted training to help them identify, report, and address potential risks of exploitation in the workplace.

SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNUTIES

We can't say it enough - community matters, and we really love the ones we are a part of. While each of our amazing team members is encouraged to spend time investing in communities as a corporation, here are a few ways we work to reinvest, and use our brands for good to raise awareness. We have donated over $506,000 (£368,000), to our giveback partners, including the National Park Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Humane World for Animals, and over $45,000 (£22,500) to World Central Kitchen and the Humane Society US to support disaster relief efforts

PARKS COLLECTION

Each candle in our Parks collection is inspired by the sights and fragrances of one of our Nation Parks. We partnered with the National Parks Foundation in the creation of this line and donate a minimum of $25,000 each year. To date, we've been able to donate over $100,000 to this incredible organization.

Here's How

At Here’s How, we are committed to ensuring a better life for animals across the globe. That’s why we proudly support Humane World for Animals. All of our products are named after our own furry friends, honoring their positive impact on our lives.

We're proud to partner with World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit organization that uses the power of food to nourish communities in times of crisis. Through this partnership, a portion of proceeds from all DWC brands help support WCK’s mission to provide fresh meals to those affected by disasters and humanitarian emergencies around the world.

Most recently, we donated a portion of sales to support WCK’s hurricane relief efforts in North Carolina, Asheville, and Florida—helping provide warm meals and hope to communities recovering in the wake of the storm.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Did you know that St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes and every child saved at St. Jude, which means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children? This cause is truly near and dear to our hearts, with the hospital being in our home state of Tennessee. We are happy to announce that we have committed to donate 5% of each St. Jude candle purchase to help their lifesaving mission: Finding cures. Saving children.
