PLANET
At Designworks Collective, we recognise that everything we do has an impact on the environment. From the energy used in our warehouses to the emissions generated by employee business travel, we are taking practical steps to understand and reduce our environmental footprint. We are on a journey to become a Net Zero company and have engaged with Ecologi to support us in our carbon footprint calculations.
Net Zero means doing our part to limit global warming by cutting our greenhouse gas emissions (like carbon) across our operations and supply chain. We are tackling what we can reduce, and responsibly offsetting what we can’t, by supporting high-integrity climate projects. We believe that sustainability is a fundamental consideration in how we operate as a business, now and in the future.

JOURNEY TO NET ZERO
At Designworks Collective, we take our climate impact seriously. Here’s where we are and where we’re going:
-
In 2023, we completed our first full carbon footprint assessment with Carbon Footprint and offset all Scope 1 and 2 emissions—giving us a clear baseline to build from.
-
In 2024, we’re continuing to track and offset operational emissions while improving how we measure Scope 3 emissions across our supply chain. These are the most challenging to calculate but account for the largest share of our impact.
-
We're partnering with Ecologi to ensure our data is accurate and our offsets meet high environmental and social standards. Visit our Ecologi Portfolio.
We recognize that offsetting is not a long-term solution—it’s a short-term tool. That’s why we’re also:
-
Aligning our reduction goals with the Science Based Targets Initiative to stay below 1.5°C of global warming.
-
Aiming to submit these targets for validation by the end of 2025.
-
Beginning life cycle assessments in 2025 for select product categories to identify opportunities for improvement in materials, packaging, and logistics.
This is just the beginning of our Net Zero journey, and we’re committed to doing it right—with transparency, accountability, and a focus on real change.

CLIMATE ACTION
As we work to reduce our emissions across operations and the supply chain, we’re also investing in high-quality climate projects that have both environmental and social impact. So far, we’ve supported the avoidance of 1,306 tonnes of CO₂e by funding the Zambia Western Province Safe Water Project, in partnership with Ecologi. Visit our Ecologi profile here! This initiative builds borehole hand pumps in communities that rely on burning wood to boil unsafe water. By providing clean water directly, the need to cut and burn firewood is removed, reducing deforestation and household carbon emissions while improving public health and access to safe water.
We’re committed to building a broader and more diverse portfolio of verified climate solutions through Ecologi, including reforestation, habitat restoration, and emerging carbon removal projects, for example. Our approach to climate action reflects a balance: supporting global projects that deliver measurable benefits now, while steadily driving down the emissions we create through the way we work, design, and distribute our products.
Partnering with
TREE PLANTING
As part of our carbon offsetting efforts, the UK team participated in a tree-planting event at a local primary school in Bath, UK. We assisted 150 children in planting 300 hedgerow trees, which will provide screens and shade around their play field. This initiative was led by our representative at Carbon Footprint, with whom we collaborated to calculate our 2023 carbon footprint. Each tree can absorb approximately 1 tonne of carbon over its lifetime, marking a significant step towards carbon neutrality.

PRINT RELEAF
We have teamed up with Printreleaf to offset the environmental impact of producing our catalogues through certified reforestation. To date, 295 trees have been reforested on behalf of our brands.

SOLAR PANELS
We added solar panels to our headquarters in order to reduce our footprint and energy expenditure. With this addition, we were also able to add chargers for any electrical cars that might stop by.
